Candidates For Surgery
Candidates for rhinoplasty or eyelid surgery are people whose facial feature have reached their mature size. They need to be generally healthy non-smokers and have realistic goals as to how rhinoplasty can improve their appearance. What to Expect After Surgery: Recovery A person who has had rhinoplasty performed by a board certified plastic surgeon can expect to have a full recovery and be pleased with the new shape of his or her nose. However, this can take as long as a year. Right after the blepharoplasty surgery the patient can ease the discomfort by placing ice packs gently to the nose. This should be done for between 10 and 20 minutes at a time, four to eight times a day. After two days, the patient can start applying warm compresses. He or she should avoid blowing the nose or engaging in strenuous activity for at least a week. The physician will also prescribe pain medication and antibiotics.
